So a Jeep ride up PCH leads to a day at the beach on a marine base.
I cant even tell you the last time I was at the beach. Although I am thinking it was about a year ago on vacation. Let alone the last time I actually played in the water past my knee caps. I had so much fun I could swear a feel good Van Morrison song was playing in my head.
Watching Becca was just as much fun. I forgot what it was like to be such a kid with no fear. There were a few times when I was waist deep with a giant wave approaching and I would start to slowly back up. Well until I felt the pull on my arm of Becca pulling me closer to the wave. It was okay though. That moment where you jump right before the wave hits you gave Becca the coolest smiles I have seen from her. Which made it worth it.
Of course after she went inland to build a sand castle and I decided to become more brave myself. It was going great till I got really far out and became a little cocky. Came head to head with a giant wave. It sucked me down faster than a kid sucks down a juice box. Suddenly being sucked under water with your hat being sucked off, not being able to breath and the current pulling down your bottoms did not work out so well for me. I wanted to instantly pop up for air but was trying to hold my breath a little longer in order to pull my bottoms back up. After pulling my bottoms back up, finding the surface, getting a breath and finding my hat I was done. I waded back to land and was happy staying there, lol.
I also forgot about sand. How it gets everywhere and stays there. This beach showers which were semi private with a small curtain was a small god send. Especially after Becca surprise attack of throwing sand in the air. Which at one point she referred to as beach confetti.
All and all a great day even with the beach confetti. Thanks to The Penguin for taking me.
So I have never been short on opinons or my two cents on most subjects so I decided I should give bloggin a try. I am told I am funny so we will se if I make you laugh. I am a single mother thus most of my chuckles come from a very energetic red head that is my daughter.

How sad: Motivation needed for vacation
So it is the middle of summer and two small vacations are fast approaching. I have mentally compiled the list of all the things I am suppose to me doing in order to get ready. I must add though, I have also procrastinated in doing any of the things on the list. While camping with my family in the wilderness is great, for some reason I am just not that motivated. It was way easier last year when I went with a man. I got food and clothes and he did the rest.
The first vacation is just north of Mammoth. I get to spend time with my family, see wonderful views, have fresh air, and fishing. All I can seem to think about it mosquito bites, no running plumbing, sleeping on an air mattress that will inevitably stop holding air by the third night (even if Costco guarantees it for three years), and wondering if i can put off going potty till sunlight because there are a lot of noises in the dark outside my tent. Not to mention the 6 hour car ride with my little monster who wants to sing "California Gurls" the whole way there and keeps the grip of death on the ipod.
I am still unsure if I will end up having the motivation to go to mammoth or if I will pass. I am for sure going camping in three weeks to Leo Carrillo with the other side of my family. I should add that I am using the term camping very loosely. Due to the fact they have showers, actual campsites, restrooms, a little store, street lights and about 500 other people in neighboring campsites.
I love being so close to the water and getting up early to play in the tide pools. Even if I freak out a little when something slimy feeling touches my toe and I freak out at first until i realize it is just seaweed. It's also fun to watch Becca play in them. Its even funnier to watch her freak out when something touches her toe.
Today I am attempting to finish getting over being sick as well as attacking the giant pile of laundry in my room. I am three loads in and the pile is slowly shrinking. Then I will go back to my mental to do list and prepare for vacation.
